Two houses in Modesto, California were damaged due to overnight fires. The first incident occurred on the 500 block of Woodrow Avenue around 10pm. Firefighters arrived to find a one-story home, with a garage and two cars on fire. The flames extended into the house, causing significant smoke and heat damage. The American Red Cross was called to help the occupants.

The second fire was reported at 3:24am on the 900 block of North Seventh Street. Firefighters found a two-story house engulfed in flames. The house, built in 1890 and divided into a triplex with a full basement, posed challenges for the firefighters. A second alarm was requested to assist in extinguishing the fire and cleaning up the burned materials. One firefighter sustained a minor injury, received medical evaluation, and was discharged from a local hospital.

The Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit is currently investigating the causes of both fires.
