Task Force 4202, made up of firefighters from various departments including Modesto, Turlock, Denair, Garden Valley, El Dorado County, Amador, and Woodbridge, is currently battling the Shelly Fire in Siskiyou County. Led by a Modesto Battalion Chief, the team has been working in challenging terrain to contain the fire and limit its impact on the area.

As of July 19, 2024, the Shelly Fire has spread across 15,460 acres and is 18% contained, with a total of 2,895 personnel assigned to the fire. In a small act of kindness, firefighters were treated to lemonade by grateful residents in Yreka after a day of hard work.
