This morning, the Modesto Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 1600 block of Concord Avenue in Modesto. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire and black smoke engulfing a residence, with flames spreading to a neighboring house. A second alarm was requested, leading to seven engines, two trucks, and two battalion chiefs, as well as the Deputy Chief of Operations and the Fire Chief, responding to the scene. Modesto Police, American Medical Response, and the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit assisted with traffic control, medical standby, and determining the fire's cause.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the involved houses, preventing further spread. Unfortunately, one individual was found deceased inside one of the homes. The Modesto Fire Department has extended their deepest condolences to the affected family. Further details about the incident or the deceased are not currently available for release.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
