Modesto Fire Department, along with other fire departments, responded to multiple vegetation fires on Thursday in Modesto, Stanislaus Consolidated, and Turlock City. In Turlock, firefighters put out a blaze that damaged an outbuilding and 22 cars on Montana Avenue. Two firefighters were injured but later released from the hospital.

Shortly after, firefighters contained a grass fire between houses on Carmel Court in Oakdale, keeping it to just over an acre and preventing any structures from being harmed. Another fire broke out on Edgebrook Drive in Modesto, and crews were able to put out a 1/4 acre of grass and bamboo on fire.

Later in the evening, firefighters from various stations responded to multiple vegetation fires near Brady Road off of Highway 108. The fire burned in heavy brush and large trees, and crews worked late into the night before leaving the area.
