The City of Modesto Parks, Recreation, & Neighborhoods reminds everyone to prioritize safety when heading to the water for Labor Day weekend. It's important to ensure that everyone in your group has a properly fitting life jacket. If someone doesn't have one, you can pick up a loaner life jacket for free at participating local Fire Departments.

Drowning is preventable, and wearing a life jacket can save lives. The loaner program allows for a one-day or weekend use of the life jackets, which must be returned to the place where they were borrowed between 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The participating fire stations for the life jacket loaner program include:

- Estación 5: 200 W. Briggsmore Ave., Modesto

- Estación 10: 148 Imperial Ave., Modesto

- Estación 15: 2755 Third St., Ceres

- Estación 22: 4845 Yosemite Blvd., Modesto

- Estación 23: 7737 Yosemite Blvd., Modesto

- Estación 24: 129 E St., Waterford

- Estación 26: 3318 Topeka St., Riverbank

- Estación 27: 450 S. Willowood Dr., Riverbank

- Estación 28: 325 E. G St., Oakdale

- Estación 29: 17700 Main St., Knights Ferry

- Estación 31: 540 E. Marshall St., Turlock
