Report Threats, Don’t Repost: School Safety Reminder
Staff Report / Modestolocal.org
Modesto City Schools has issued an urgent reminder to students and parents regarding the handling of potential threats on social media. The district advises against reposting threats, as doing so can create unnecessary panic and hinder investigations. Instead, individuals are encouraged to report any threats immediately to a parent, school staff, or local law enforcement.
For anonymous reporting, the district has provided access to the "Say Something Anonymous Reporting System," which is available 24 hours a day. Parents are urged to discuss the importance of reporting suspicious activities with their children and to monitor their social media usage.
Students are reminded that reporting any concerning posts helps ensure that the information reaches the appropriate authorities. Modesto City Schools and local law enforcement will investigate all reported threats thoroughly. Those found responsible for making or spreading threats could face serious consequences. The school district emphasizes the importance of reporting over sharing to maintain a safe school environment.
