Modesto Urges Residents to Care for Stormwater Management
Staff Report / Modestolocal.org
As National Stormwater Awareness Week comes to a close, the City of Modesto is urging residents to consider their stormwater management practices. The Environmental Compliance Section is currently taking water samples in the area to monitor conditions that affect the Tuolumne River.
Residents are reminded to check the weather forecast before applying any chemical treatments at home, such as lawn care or pest control. The city recommends postponing these treatments if rain is expected to prevent chemicals from running off into the stormwater system and potentially contaminating local waterways. Taking these precautions can help save money and protect the environment.
