The Modesto Fire Department has announced the passing of retired Captain Mark Gonzales. He joined the department in February 1992 and served for 24 years, becoming a Captain in 2005 until his retirement in December 2018.

During his time with the department, Captain Gonzales was known for his leadership and mentorship, influencing many firefighters and promoting a spirit of teamwork. The department expressed condolences to the Gonzales family and encouraged the community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.

Chief Kevin Wise of the Modesto Fire Department shared these sentiments in the announcement.
