Cornell Reveals Collegetown's Historic Transformation

Cornell University in Ithaca has unveiled a new look at Collegetown’s evolution through decades of change. When Cornell first opened its doors to students in 1868, the area now known as Collegetown started as a quiet neighborhood with just over a dozen houses, located up the steep hill from downtown Ithaca.

Over time, the neighborhood experienced numerous developments and redevelopments. Collegetown has grown to become an important part of the Cornell experience, shaping off-campus life for generations of students.

A photo tour and detailed history of Collegetown are available for those interested in exploring this unique transformation at the Cornell Alumni website.
