Heavy Rain Threatens Florida, Flood Warnings Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a forecast for heavy rain from Monday to Wednesday for parts of Pinellas County and surrounding areas. Low-lying areas and regions with poor drainage are at risk for flooding.

In the forecast valid from 8:00 AM Monday, July 14, 2025, to 8:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2025, rainfall amounts are expected to vary significantly across the region. Gainesville may see 2-3 inches of rain, Ocala and Daytona Beach are forecast to receive 1-1.5 inches, while Crystal River, Brooksville, New Port Richey, and Tampa could receive 3-4 inches. Winter Haven, Sebring, Sarasota, Arcadia, and Punta Gorda are expected to record 4-6 inches of rain. Fort Myers and Immokalee are expected to have 3-4 inches, and Melbourne, Vero Beach, and Orlando could receive 2-3 inches. Leesburg is forecast to receive 3-4 inches and Titusville is expecting around 5.2 inches. Notes on Belle Glade and West Palm Beach indicate significant rainfall as well.

Officials advise residents to use caution. They recommend avoiding driving or walking through flooded areas since as little as 6 inches of fast-moving water can be dangerous, and just one foot of water can carry away vehicles.
