Animal Rescue Team Trains Firefighters for Farming Emergencies

Yesterday at the Broome County Fairgrounds in Binghamton, NY, the Animal Rescue Team organized a training focused on agricultural emergencies. The event was attended by members from several local fire departments in Broome and Chenango Counties, as well as the Onondaga County Animal Rescue Team.

Training scenarios included a trailering incident involving livestock, the recovery of livestock from a trailer using a horse training prop, a review of hazardous materials associated with farming in a milk house, and a grain bin entrapment and rescue.

The training was supported by contributions from various businesses and organizations, including Lindsey Equipment, Winsor Acres, Don Snow Trucking, Broome Co. Farm Bureau, Broome Co. Tech Rescue Team, Whittaker Farms, Lutz Feed – Oneonta, Broome Co. Fair Board, and Haisley AG & Auto.

Fire departments from Whitney Point, Port Crane, Kirkwood, Chenango Bridge, Harpursville, East Maine, the Town of Binghamton, and Greene also attended the event.
