**Marine Research Team Concludes Drilling Project on Tohoku Earthquake Fault**

An international marine research team, supported by the engineering expertise of Cornell University in Ithaca, has successfully completed an ambitious scientific drilling project. The purpose of the project was to investigate the plate boundary fault that ruptured during the catastrophic Tohoku earthquake that struck Japan in 2011.

The research marks a significant step in understanding the seismic activity and geological processes associated with one of the most devastating earthquakes in recent history. Additional findings or outcomes of the project have not yet been detailed.
