The Modesto City Council has approved the renovation of Cesar E. Chavez Park, with construction set to begin in Fall 2024. The city announced that a local contractor has been awarded the construction contract for the project.

The renovation project is funded by the Prop 68 California Statewide Park Grant, Measure H, and Local Park Funds. The community participated in the planning process and selected various amenities to be included in the project. Features will include a lighted aquatic center, vandal-resistant restrooms, park lighting equipped with security cameras, and additional improvements.
