Modesto Offers Chess Classes for Kids Aged 5-14

The City of Modesto is offering chess classes for children aged 5 to 14 through its Parks, Recreation, & Neighborhoods department. There are two levels of classes available: a Chess Starters Class for beginners and a Chess Advanced Class for those with some prior experience.

The Chess Starters Class aims to provide a solid foundation in chess rules and strategies, while the Advanced Class focuses on deeper concepts such as openings and tactical themes. Participants will engage in training games and will receive a ribbon award upon completing the course.

Classes will begin on Tuesday, October 29, and the cost to sign up is $145. Interested parents can register online at www.modestogov.com/2268.
