Jacksonville Region Braces for Scorching Heat Wave
The City of Jacksonville has issued a weather update for the Jacksonville metropolitan area and surrounding regions, including Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida. According to the report dated May 15, 2025, residents should be prepared for above average temperatures through next week with highs reaching the upper 80s to 90s.
The temperatures in Jacksonville are expected to be 94°F on May 15 and rise to 97°F on May 16, 17, and 20. Other areas such as Baxley, Brunswick, Gainesville, Lake City, Ocala, Palm Coast, and St. Augustine also face high temperatures, with several locations recording highs in the 90s.
The report notes that the hottest temperatures will occur between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and that dry conditions will continue during this period. Residents are advised to stay cool, remain hydrated, and follow local guidelines to keep safe during the warm weather.
